What is the best way to accessa WiFi connection while cruising? Do you have consistent high speed and what connection speed do you average? I need to run a VoIP phone and access my internet based applications.
We are cruising down island and to Central America, so we will be quite aways away from Marinas at many times.

First of all, WiFi and Cell-phones are all Line of Site or LESS… WiFi IEEE 802.11N has an outdoor range of ONLY 160 meters !! A cell phone might work up to 15-30 miles away from a cell-tower.

Now you CAN get internet access via satellite… though to run a VoIP, you’d need two-way broadband service.

Now WHERE are you “cruising” and how far from the marina are you actually going !!

Good Luck !!
