How long after your child starting “cruising” did they actually start to walk on their own?

My son has been “cruising”, or walking from one piece of furniture to the next, for about 2 weeks now. He looks like he really want to take a few steps on his own but he gets scared and falls back on his butt. I know that the progress of all babies is different, but I was wondering if anyone had a rough time-line I could go by. I don’t want to rush him to grow up, I’m just super curious :)

It was a couple of weeks for my baby.

my child crawled until she was 15 m/o even. Research suggests that there is a strong correlation btwn crawling/cruising and successful reading skills in school.

My daughter cruised at 13 months..but it wasn’t until she was 16 months that she learned to walk.

My son was cruising for about 2 months (maybe a little less) before he officially started walking without holding on at around 11 months old. He just has to get comfortable enough about letting go. You can try holding his hands and walking with him to encourage him a bit.

my baby never cruised…just got up one day and walked. Now she’s starting to run. She’s only 10 months old. Don’t rush it!!! I thought I’d have the summer…she had other ideas! They all develop differently. My five year old son walked at 13 months but he cruised around for what seemed like weeks.

My baby starting pulling himself up around 6 months. He started cruising probably a few weeks after that. He didn’t start walking until 10 months, so he probably cruised for a good 2+ months.

mine cruised at 9month but didnt walk till 14 months, so that was 5months later, dont think she wanted 2walk unaided! so dont worry sounds like it could be soon though if he is wanting 2take a few steps, praise him lots when he does attempt it but dont push him
